Done as a plein air peice. This had to have been done very quickly with accurate color matches at the scene and block in. After returning home I had a chance to get it to a more completion level.

Out my bedroom window i have some interesting views of cottonwoods. Cottonwoods are very challenging and intrieging at the same time, they have so much character to them and infinate possibilities of ways to paint them.

After a hike down and back for a total of 1200 stair steps you are treated with this view. I had everything i needed for this painting. It made the hike worth while.

I went up to Whitefish, MT earlier this summer and had to get in an areal of whitefish lake. This town is definatly retirement made, not that i'm already thinking about retirering anytime soon.
